Tanner Bosma paints rain and the city. He grew up in Michigan, studied art education, and moved to Brooklyn. He has painted full time since 2026.
He works in layered acrylic on wood panel and canvas, often finished with resin. The edges are painted, so the works hang without frames.
His painting Midnight Maybe sold at The Ordinary, Collective Z's Pride exhibition, in June 2026.
Artist statement
Growing up in a rural midwest town I saw New York as a beacon of hope, acceptance, and opportunity. New York isn't just my home, it's the subject matter and essence of my art, and represents years of dreaming of an exciting future. More specifically, I aim to create a beautiful tension between solitude and urban life. A place where time slows, light lingers, and the city pulses with a quiet energy. I love cinematic, dark, moody, wet and reflective scenes that captivate the viewer.
